Company Licensing

In September 2007, the Bermuda Government and the Licensing Authority Task Force contacted approximately 20 Electrical contractors to participate in the Residential Electrician Workshop on a proposal to license all companies.

It was the intent of this workshop to have local contractors use their expertise and knowledge in assuring the scope of work accurately reflected Bermuda’s requirements.  The workshops were interactive in nature in order to assess the validity of other jurisdictions scope of work to that of Bermuda.

At present, there has been no movement on the legislation to implement company licensing. In speaking with the Bermuda Consumer Affairs Bureau, it appears they have put this on the back burner for this year.

BECA plans to pursue this matter as we feel it will be beneficial to all local electrical contractors.
