BECA Officers

HPIM1521 President – Chris Montgomery (2008 – present)Chris has been working in the local electrical industry for over 28 years. He started in 1980 as an apprentice with P&M ltd. He attended Roger Williams College in Rhode Island from 1983-85. He returned to the island and finished his studies at Bermuda Technical Institute. He went to work for a spin-off company from P&M named Cordell Electric. In 1989, Cordell Electric bought P&M and Chris became a minor shareholder. In 1993, Chris started his own company called Sea-M Electric Ltd. Sea-M Electric has grown to be a mid-size company (by Bermuda standards). Chris is a past director of the Construction Association of Bermuda and has sat on a number of advisory boards. He has been instrumental in organizing BECA as well as sitting as Chairman for the Electrical Occupational Advisory Committee.
Summer 09 068 Vice President – Ray Beaulne (2008 – present)Ray has been on the island for over 26 years. He attended college in Canada in the late 70’s before applying his trade as an Electrical Journeyman. Ray came to Bermuda in the mid 1980’s and worked for P&M ltd as an Electrical Foreman. Ray left P&M in 1994 and worked a brief time at Tungate Electric before settling at Universal Electric as General Manager. Ray sits at acting Chairman of the Occupational Advisory Committees. He is a past Director of the Construction Association of Bermuda. Ray has aslo been instrumental in bringing the island towards National Certificatrion. He has also led the way for training in the industry and has helped set up an in-house evaluation and training program for his company.
Treasurer – Duane Simons (2008 – present)Duane has over 20 years experience in the Electrical Industry. Duane attended Bermuda College and recieved his degree in 1992. He has worked for P&M Ltd and Sea-M Electric Ltd before branching out on his own. In 1996, he started his own company – First Class Electrics. He has seen the company grow to be one of the preaminant local Electrical Contractors. Duane has sat on a number of industry committees and is currently on the Electrical Occupational Advisory Committee which sets the standards for National Certification.
Sam Nusum – Director (2008 – present) In 1965, Sam started his electrical career as an apprentice with Canber Electric Ltd. He started his company in 1980 and is still active in the field assisting his employees. He has sat on the Electrical Occupational Advisory committee for the past 5 years.
Andy Smith – Director (2008 – present)Andy started his career in 1965 at the age of 16. He started working as an apprtentice while attending Technical Institute. He graduated from Bermuda Technical Institute and furthered his education a furhter 2 years and achieved his City & Guilds Certificate. He worked his apprenticeship with Masters Ltd for a number of years. Andy then moved to Universal Electric Ltd. for 17 years working his way up to Lead foreman specializing in multi-circuit control installations. He started his own business in 1984 (Hi-Tech Electrical Services). Andy has been a leader in the industry and has instumental in the last 3 years to develope the criteria for National Certification of electricians. He has been a member of the Electrical Occupational Advisory Committee for the last 5 years.
  Kirk Peets – Director (2008 – present) Kirk first started practicing electrical work with Pimentel Electric in 1968. Kirk attained his degree with a corespondence course with ICS and worked up to lead foreman for the company. He also attended the Belco Training Center. In 1982, he left Pimentel Electric and started Peets Electrical Co. Ltd. Kirk was on the original Certification Board which was started  in the late 1980’s to look into National Certification. He spent almost 10 years setting the ground work for Certifcation. Kirk is still active in the field while maintaining his companies high standards.
 Summer 09 067 Terry Corday – Director (2008 – present) Terry is one of the longest standing member servicing the Electrical community. He has been in the industry for almost 50 years. He started his trade with Canber Electric in 1960 before moving to P&M Ltd. He worked his way up to Lead foreman. In 1983, Terry ventured off to start his own company – Cordell Electric Ltd. By 1989, he bought out the majority shares in P&M Ltd. He has grown the company to be one of the largest and finest electrical contractors on the island.  Terry employs a hands on approach to every aspect of the business.
